How Long Does Paintless Dent Repair Take?

Paintless dent repair (PDR) is a method that was created around 25 years ago. Technicians use this method to fix dents on your car without traditional bodywork or repainting. This process is not only more efficient but also preserves the original factory finish of your car.

This in turn retains the value of your vehicle, anytime a shop replaces the original factory panels and paint it diminishes the value of your vehicle. This is less than ideal considering a vehicle is generally the second largest investment that you will ever make next to a home purchase.

So, how long does it typically take to repair a dent using PDR?

The duration of a PDR job can vary depending on several factors, including:

  • Size and location of the dent or dents: Smaller dents are generally easier and quicker to repair than larger ones. Dents located in areas with complex curves or near critical components may require more time and precision.
  • If the dent is easy to reach from outside the car, fixing it will probably be quicker. However, if the trim pieces or panels hide the dent, you may need additional time for preparation.
  • Some dents are harder to fix, like those with many impacts, deep gouges, or severe creases. These may need extra tools or methods.
  • Technician's skill and experience: A skilled PDR technician can often complete repairs more efficiently and with higher quality results.
  • The severity of your vehicle hail damage or the amount of dents your car has.

Generally, a typical full-vehicle PDR job can take 1 to 3 days. However, it's important to note that these are estimates, and the actual time may vary.
